Visit Tryon Palace Historic Sites
Visitors to the Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens will find a ton of great things to see. The palace itself is one of the most popular places to visit on the estate grounds. Tour guides who dress in period clothing can take you on a tour of the upper and lower floors, and even down into the cellar. The Kitchen Office and the Stable Office, which also has staff in period clothing, are located at the palace as well, and they give a great insight into the life of the people who once lived and toiled there. Some of the other places on the grounds that are quite popular for visitors to see are the George W. Dixon house, Robert Hay house, and the New Bern Academy. You can see quite a few exhibits at the academy, including a special exhibit about the Civil War. Another part of the grounds that you can’t miss is the 14 acres of gardens. The gardens each have a different feel and theme and you are going to want to see them all. The paths that wind though the gardens make a wonderful place to unwind. Everyone will have a great time taking in the history and beauty of the Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens.
