Vermont Vacation with NO CARS - visit Burton Island State Park
Can you imagine being someplace that you have no car? Where the only way to get to the Vermont vacation spot is by boat? If that sounds like something you would love to try then you really need to visit Burton Island State Park at St. Albans Bay. Since there are not roads to get to this park you need to either have a boat of your own or take the state ferry.
There are some camping spots at the park and a few lean-to sites for your use so you can stay more than just a day. There are also 15 boat moorings and a 100 slip marina which make this a unique park in the state for you to enjoy.
The island was first used for agriculture in the 1840’s and then finally, after a long history of private ownership, was sold to the state in 1962. It was opened to the public in 1964 and has gained the reputation of being someplace that you can go and enjoy getting away from crowds and cars. There is Wi-Fi on the island so you aren’t totally without the ability to communicate if you feel you must…but maybe you should just sit back, enjoy the water, the quiet and the relaxation offered at this unique park.
